Reasons For Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)
The Health and Safety Executive states that there are 1,000 accidents in a work place reported every year involving shocks and burns, 30 of which are fatal. The Electricity at Work (EAW) Regulations 1989 therefore requires employers and self-employed persons to take reasonable, practical steps to minimise the risks involved with using electrical appliances. The easiest and most comprehensive way to do this is by way of Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
PAT is considered good practice and it allows you to follow some of the Health and Safety regulations. Therefore, it makes sense to provide a good inspection system for your electrical appliances. Actest can provide you with inspections as necessary, along with a complete and easy-to-understand record of your results.
All useable portable appliances on your site will be tested, that is, kettles, toasters, power supplies, fans, televisions, light units, extension leads, computers, etc. Check out our Shockers Gallery to see some examples of the fails we find, you won’t believe your eyes!
